Writing & Humour

One of the most obvious things that lie at the crux of the show’s appeal is its signature brand of humour. Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s formula relies on engaging and enjoyable character dynamics in absurd yet still paradoxically plausible law enforcement situations at the eponymous 99th Precinct and out in the field. Similarly, this also applies to seemingly mundane moments throughout the course of an episode. Brooklyn Nine-Nine also always manages to pull off humour that is not just relevant in the time but also in arguably all times. The dynamics you see in a police precinct, though you might not think about it if you are not in law enforcement yourself, is actually quite analogous to offices, laboratories, warehouses, and similar work environments. There is always a layer of relatability to ever joke and occurrence.
