#5 Can you request an extension?

Depending on what the payment is for, you may be able to request an extension for the payment until such a time as you are comfortable making the payment—for example, at pay day. However, not all payments can be put off, and if putting off the payment won’t help and will simply delay the inevitable, your emergency funds could be a good source of cash.
